The recent renewed interest in participatory housing experiments is, in fact, linked to a much longer history that can be traced back to the late 19th century, when the first public policies in France to encourage the construction of low-cost housing were introduced. Metropolitics looks at how this multifaceted history has laid the foundations for today’s projects.

Le regain d’intérêt actuel pour les expériences d’habitat participatif doit être rattaché à une histoire plus longue, dont on peut faire remonter les débuts à la fin du XIXe siècle, au moment où s’engage la construction des premières politiques publiques d’aide à la construction du logement modeste. Multiforme, celle-ci dessine les perspectives dans lesquelles s’inscrivent les projets d’aujourd’hui.
