Abstract : This paper aims at a comparative description of the ways of dancing among two Amerindian peoples in the Guyana region : the Wayãpi and the Kalina. From this are drawn a few lines of ethnographic observation, and some elements of general characterization of dances in Lowland South America : arrangement and trajectory of the dancers, basic movements, relationships between dance and everyday movements, elements structuring choreographic programs.
