Optimization of Piezoelectric Sensors Location and Number Using a Genetic Algorithm

Abstract : In this article, the optimal location and number of piezoelec-tric sensors is formulated for active vibration control. A modified criterion is used to ensure good observability of the system by con-sidering the minimum number of needed piezoelectric elements. A genetic algorithm is proposed to solve this bi-objective optimization problem. Simulations are presented for a thin plate.
