Locus of Control ou Locus of Distribution ? Une application en milieu professionnel

Abstract : It has been observed, as well as to explain received reinforcements (LOC) as to explain behaviors (attribution), that we generally use internal causes. This accentuation of the actor’s weight has been considered, first as an error (Ross, 1977), then as a norm (for Beauvois, 1984, this accentuation would be socially valued). However it has been shown that this increase of value is not systematic, and that, for example, the teachers declaring oneself responsible for the rewards and punishments that they distribute to their students are depreciated by these students (Gangloff, 2004). Developing this last point of view, we show notably here, using questionnaire, that in an organizational context, a hierarchical superior who assigns to external reasons the sanctions, positive or negative, that he manages to his subordinates, is valued. It is also noted that the hierarchical superiors are aware of this valuation. Thus, it would exist, concerning explanation of distributive behaviors of sanctions (i.e. as far as Locus of Distribution is concerned), a preference for external explanations, i.e. a norm of externality.
