Quel sport power pour la Russie ?

Abstract : Since 2000 and Vladimir Putin's presidency - and after it got neglected with the collapse of the Berlin wall - sport has regained its position as an instrument of power. From Sochi 2014 Olympics to 2018 FIFA World Cup, it is now a full-fledged tool of Russian's foreign policy, mobilizing all the local elite (oligarchs, politicians, companies, sports professionals). Nevertheless, sport power or sport diplomacy is a relatively new phenomenon in Russia, which offers an original analytical tool to understand the current Russian political system. This article proposes to define Russian's sport power by studying its economic, juridical and political levers, while endeavoring to understand its impact on Russian territory and elites' representations.
