Distribuer le pouvoir comme on distribue la parole : le rituel des « tours de parole » dans des assemblées générales anarchistes/ autonomes

Abstract : This article, stemming from the field of anthropology of language, adresses the question of ritualized turn-taking in anarchist/autonomous general assembly meetings as observed through ethnographic fieldwork. Characterized by the heterogeneity of discursive positioning regarding “how speech should be organized” in general assembly meetings, anarchist/autonomous movements display extensive critical reflexivity regarding who may/should decide for whom. I begin by covering the situational properties that make the “organization of speech” explicit during these encounters, and go on to interpreting the language ideologies which presuppose such formalization of speech. I then analyze courtesy exchanges that occur when a speaker interrupts another or when speeches overlap, as marks of respect toward the dispositif itself, as observed in the corpus each time there is interruption or overlapping. These will be analyzed in terms of ritualization.
