Abstract : The archaeogeographical study of a sector in Southern Vendée which includes landscapes of both bocage and openfield has led to some morphological observations and interpretations. Starting from a point of non-periodization, this analysis highlights the variety of legacies that make up the planimetry of current hedged areas, from the era of La Tène to today, though the medieval and modern periods dominate. The main results are presented here: numerous specific morphological units, a large network of forms which spread almost exclusively across the plain but extend beyond it, and a particular sector in the northwest of the zone of study. Joining historical and archaeological data leads to an impressionist painting of the history of the planimetry in the area, which does not confine itself to a sterile contrast between bocage and openfield.
